A Darija phone menu callers can follow: scripts and a recording checklist

Prepare a Moroccan Darija phone greeting, three menu choices and fallback messages. Hear voice references, then check the recording in your own phone system.

Start with where the call should go

For a Moroccan shop or service business, the useful question is not “How many options can we record?” It is “Can a caller recognize the right option on the first listen?” Write down the destinations that are actually staffed before drafting the greeting.

The fictional shop below has three destinations: new orders, existing orders, and other questions. This is an original script example, not a customer story or a demonstration of an installed phone integration. Replace the destinations with your own, and remove any option that nobody can answer.

A three-choice Darija menu

Use the following lines as editable copy. Speak the numbers as words, leave a short natural pause between choices, and keep the same order in the recording and the phone configuration. Do not paste file names or recording notes into the speech field.

Record changing information separately

A holiday schedule should not force you to recreate an otherwise correct menu. If your phone system supports separate prompts, keep the greeting, menu and closed-hours message in separate files. Use simple names such as welcome, menu and closed-hours in your own working folder.

Listen to Darija voice references

The players below contain existing Moroccan Darija recordings by Hala and Omar, with their original transcripts. They do not read the phone-menu scripts above. Use them to compare the voices, then test your actual business name, the word “جوج” and the longest choice. Review the wording and pronunciation with a Moroccan speaker familiar with your audience.

Check the phone system before exporting

A recording that plays in a browser is not automatically ready for a phone system. Check that system’s current upload requirements: file format, codec, sample rate, mono or stereo, maximum duration and file size. The extension alone does not prove compatibility. If conversion is required, use your audio editor and listen again after conversion and upload.

These are recorded prompts, not a live conversational agent. Call routing remains with your phone provider.

  • Test from an ordinary phone, not just a laptop speaker. Confirm that the business name, every choice and every number remain intelligible.
  • Press each advertised key and confirm its destination. Then try an unsupported key and let the menu time out without pressing anything.
  • Check the actual closed-hours route and its schedule. Make sure it does not send callers to an unstaffed destination or promise a response you cannot provide.
  • Keep a local copy of the approved script and audio, plus a note of which file is active. When replacing a prompt, confirm that the phone system is playing the new version.

Pay for the recording work you actually need

Start with one clear, tested prompt rather than a full set of alternate voices. Include completed alternate takes and expected revisions when estimating usage. A small, stable phone menu is an occasional project; it does not by itself justify an ongoing subscription.

Free custom samples are for evaluation and non-commercial testing. For the recording used on your business phone line, generate the production audio under a paid plan or Project Pack, with the necessary rights to any submitted material.

FasihTTS offers monthly plans and a one-time Project Pack. Compare the current allowances, commercial-use terms and plan features before buying. Consider monthly production only if you also make regular recordings, such as product videos or repeated announcements. A Project Pack is a one-time purchase, not a monthly subscription.
